THE TOUR
“There is more Montmartre in Paris than Paris in Montmartre!”. This well-known adage tells a lot about the relationships that existed (and partly still exist) between this independent municipality and the French capital, to which Montmartre was annexed in 1860.
Today, Montmartre still retains that atmosphere of a village suspended between the sacred and the profane, between art and bohème, between the countryside and mass tourism.
Let’s set off together to discover the secrets of the “butte”. Of its history of course, but also of the legends and biographies of the famous characters who – with their stories, paintings or simply their lifestyle – made Montmartre famous.
